Bring back the coffee morning
Many people, especially older folk, love a coffee morning because it's a chance to meet up for a chat. Is this an unmet need in your community?
It doesn't have to be a fundraiser. Two churches in a Berkshire town realised put on a free coffee morning on the first Saturday of the month.
"God's love is free - so is our coffee and tea!" is their slogan.
How?
Do a bit of research to find out if this would be a valued addition to your local community. Are there any other regular events like this? Maybe another church is already doing something and you can pool resources - or do something complementary.
Advertise: in the church magazine, local day centres etc
What next?
"Mingle, chat and listen to people's stories," advises Barbara Oakley, who regularly helps host the coffee morning.
